Prince William sparked a right royal fan frenzy after he stepped out in Cape Town today for his final day in South Africa.
The Prince of Wales visited Simon’s Town Harbour, home to the country’s largest naval base, for his first engagement today and royal fans were impressed after he got suited up to board a lifeboat with the appropriate gear.
William met volunteers working for the National Seas Rescue Institute (NSRI) and heard about their lifesaving work after asking what inspired them to get involved.
He then donned a red waterproof coat and life jacket, as well as a pair of smart sunglasses before he boarded the NSRI Lifeboat “Donna Nicholas” and headed for Kalk Bay. William wore Finlay’s Bowery sunglasses in olive (£150), which you can buy here.
Royal fans loved the prince’s appearance and took to social media to express their jubilation.
During his visit, William was asked by a member of the crew if he had ever done search and rescue work, he replied: “I miss this life. Any chance to get back, I’ll take.”
The future king was a search and rescue helicopter pilot based at RAF Valley in Anglesey, North Wales before working as a pilot with the East Anglian Air Ambulance.
