“With Prince Philip or the late Queen, or any other of the older royals, they would have never attended an engagement dressed so casually.
“William and Kate are not so hung up on the fact that they are royals. So when it is a less formal event, they dress and act in a way that suits the occasion.”
He added: “William is very emotive. The hugs he is giving the players are not superficial – these are genuine signs of affection, deep rapport and respect.
“His hands are tucked in, the hug is tight, his smile is genuine, and the gestures are reciprocal. It embodies his love and passion for Aston Villa and for sport in general.
“He and Harry always bonded over their love of sport, and it seems to be a big part of William’s life.”
Mr Stanton claimed that Wednesday’s appearance was “not a normal engagement for him” and that “there was genuine joy there”, while he also commented on the royal’s “genuine eruption of passion and excitement” after his beloved team claimed victory.
He said: “Although he is always on duty whenever he is out, you can tell this isn’t a normal engagement for him. He is genuinely really excited to be there like any fan would be.
“There was genuine joy there. The shots of him celebrating the win later on were lovely. It was a really natural moment.
“It is nice seeing these photos of him that aren’t manufactured. You don’t need to be a body language expert to see this was a genuine eruption of passion and excitement.”
