Eubank Jr spotted at Abu Dhabi GP days after worrying health update | Boxing | Sport

Chris Eubank Jr has been spotted at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, just days after sharing a concerning health update. The boxer took to X on Tuesday to post a clip of himself in a hospital bed, connected to various wires and machines.

Alongside the footage, he wrote: “I’ve been dealing with a lot of health issues over the last year and yeah it all finally caught up to me last month. I will not box again until I’m back to 100 per cent and I don’t know when that will be, but one things for certain… For the fans that have supported me through thick and thin, I will do everything in my power to make sure that one day, the old me makes a big comeback.”

However, it now seems the British boxing star is back on his feet, as he was seen in the pitlane of the Abu Dhabi GP. Eubank Jr donned a tan Gucci jacket, washed black denim jeans and a pair of Louis Vuitton shoes as he posed for photographers before the racing began.

It comes just weeks after the 36-year-old suffered a points defeat to Conor Benn at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The sons of Chris Eubank Sr and Nigel Benn ran back a family rivalry dating back to the 1990s back in April when they clashed in the capital.

On that evening, Eubank Jr claimed a unanimous decision victory against Benn following a masterful display under the bright lights. However, November’s immediate rematch proved to be a completely different affair. ‘Next Gen’ found himself outclassed by the swift footwork and sharp punching of a far more nimble Benn, enduring a relentless 12-round battering before losing via unanimous decision.

Following that contest, Benn even suggested his long-time adversary might consider calling time on his career altogether. He said: “I can see him asking for a rematch, but ultimately I think we should let it lie now. We’ve done what we said we would do, we’ve sold out a stadium twice so let’s call it a day.

“He’s got more important things to worry about than fighting. He’s won at life with his two boys and if I was him I would look at his reasons for boxing. Ultimately, he will be a dad of two and that’s always a priority. It’s not down to me to say whether he should retire, but he has bigger things in life now.”

This development coincides with the 2025 Formula 1 campaign reaching its climax this weekend in Abu Dhabi. Lando Norris requires only a third-place finish at the Yas Marina Circuit on Sunday to secure his maiden Drivers’ Championship with McLarencurrently topping the table with 408 points.

Throughout this campaign, Norris has claimed seven victories and 17 podium finishes, pursuing glory alongside teammate Oscar Piastri. Nevertheless, Red Bull‘s Max Verstappen will be determined to dash the Brit’s championship hopes and secure a fifth consecutive F1 crown.

The 28-year-old is only 12 points behind Norris as they head into Sunday’s race. If he secures a victory in Abu Dhabi and Norris ends up fourth or below, it would be sufficient for him to clinch the title outright.
