A woman who was forced into having sex with a “very large number” of men over three decades said “I am free” after the individual who coerced her was arrested. Rodney Johnston, aged 67, of HMP Norwich, was found guilty of multiple offences including three counts of procuring a woman to have sexual intercourse by threats or intimidation, two counts of causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent, and one count of intimidation of a witness.
The jury reached its verdicts following an eight-week trial in September. Jurors were unable to reach a verdict on a charge of rape which will lie on file. His victim, who has a legal right to lifelong anonymity, said she was now trying to rebuild her life, adding: “For the first time in decades I am free.”
