Four children were rushed to hospital after a fire ripped through a flat in an 11-storey building in London.
Firefighters tackled a fire at the building on Barrington Road in Lambeth, where a maisonette flat on the fifth and sixth floors was completely destroyed by fire. Over 20 people were evacuated from the building, four children were taken to hospital as a precaution, the London Fire Brigade said.
The service’s control office also said they took the first of 23 calls about the fire at 8.05am and sent fire crews from Brixton, Clapham, Peckham, and other surrounding fire stations to the scene. The fire was under control at 9.33am.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, the fire brigade said. The Daily Express has contacted the London Fire Brigade’s for more information.
