NatWest has confirmed seven more of its bank branches are due to shut for good as demand for mobile and online services increases. The major bank closed 49 of its locations across the UK in 2025 and more will follow this year as in-person banking continues to decline. The closures are part of the bank’s continuing shift towards digital banking as more customers make the switch from banking in-branch to using mobile apps and online services instead.
NatWest has confirmed that customers will be given 12 weeks notice of a branch closure announcement and will be advised of the exact closing date through a poster displayed in branch, or via a closure guide available in branch or online. NatWest said customers will still have lots of other ways to bank following a branch closure, including using smartphones, tablets and computers to speak to staff, or to arrange a free face-to-face Financial Health Check “wherever you are”.
Customer Support Specialists are also available to provide dedicated support to customers in vulnerable situations and NatWest has a dedicated support line set up for customers aged over 60 or who are in “a period of extended isolation”. Additionally, customers can visit Post Office branches to take out cash, check their balance, or deposit cash and cheques.
NatWest is also working with Cash Access UK to establish “banking hubs” to provide community pop-ups following closures to help customers transition to digital banking.
Commenting on the closures, NatWest said: “The way people bank with us has changed dramatically in recent years, with an increased demand for mobile and online services as customers benefit from a faster and easier way to bank.
“While we respond to that demand, we recognise our responsibility to provide customers who feel less able to make use of these services with support for the change.
“That’s why we are communicating with our customers affected by the closure and proactively contacting vulnerable customers and regular branch users. We must review our branches and make sure they are in locations where customers use them most.”
NatWest has confirmed that the following seven UK branches are all due to close:
- Ashby-de-la-Zouch – closing, date to be confirmed
- Cromer – closing January 27, 2026
- Evesham – closing in 2026, date to be confirmed
- Launceston – closing, date to be confirmed
- Market Drayton – closing March 4, 2026
- Portishead – closing, date to be confirmed
- Torquay – closing, date to be confirmed
The following 49 NatWest branches all closed in 2025:
