Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie are reportedly “aghast, appalled and embarrassed” by what has emerged in the last few days about their disgraced parents, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson. The former Duke and Duchess of York plunged further into humiliation after embarrassing details and photographs featuring them emerged in the latest batch of the Epstein files.
One photograph appeared to show Andrew kneeling down on all fours next to an unidentified woman on the floor. A series of emails, which appeared to be sent by Fergie, as she is also known, saw the former Duchess praising the late convicted US financier, calling him a legend and describing him as the “brother I have always wished for”.
Beatrice and Eugenie are also mentioned in the emails, with one email from Ms Ferguson stating that she is waiting for her youngest daughter to return from a “sh*****g weekend”.
Sources close to the royal sisters have now claimed they find the latest revelations “embarrassing”.
They told the Daily Mail: “They [Beatrice and Eugenie] are aghast at what they have read. They are mortified by the emails their mother has sent to Epstein. It is so embarrassing for them.”
They added: “We don’t believe the girls were told much about what has just emerged [in the latest Epstein files release], and they will simply be aghast at just how close their parents were to this appalling man.”
Andrew has always denied any wrongdoing, and his presence in the Epstein files does not necessarily suggest any wrongdoing.
The disgraced former Duke stepped down from royal duties in 2019 after an interview on BBC Newsnight, but the publication of his abuse accuser, Virginia Giuffre’s posthumous memoir, and the US Government’s release of documents from Epstein’s estate, brought more scrutiny over his relationship with the financier.
Andrew paid millions to Ms Giuffre, a woman he has claimed never to have met, to settle a civil sexual assault claim in 2022.
The King last year stripped Andrew of his royal titles and honours, while Fergie also lost her Duchess of York title.
It comes as a sour-looking Andrew was pictured riding in Windsor, near his Royal Lodge home which he’ll soon vacate, on Monday morning.
