Man United confirm double deal as transfers announced after deadline | Football | Sport

Manchester United announced two separate deals after the transfer deadline officially passed, in what was a busy day for departures. United saw four players leave the club on Monday, all of whom have left Old Trafford on loan deals until the end of the season.

Two of the deals completed by United were announced after the 7pm deadline for Premier League clubs on Monday.

Gabriele Biancheri has signed for Rotherham United on a loan deal for the rest of the season, while Jacob Devaney will spend the rest of the campaign on loan at St Mirren in the Scottish Premiership.

Both deals would have been completed before the 7pm deadline passed, with the delay being due to the clubs taking their time to announce the transfers.

Earlier in the day, United also saw forward James Scanlon sign for Swindon Town on a loan deal until the end of the season, while Ethan Wheatley has also left Old Trafford on a temporary basis to join Bradford City.

United chose not to make any new signings of their own during what was a quiet transfer window at Old Trafford, with the club preferring to wait until the summer to return to their incoming business.

Michael Carrick was appointed as United’s interim head coach last month following Ruben Amorim’s exit and Darren Fletcher’s two-game spell in caretaker charge.

United have won all three of their matches during Carrick’s tenure as the club’s interim boss, including victories against Manchester City, Arsenal and Fulham.

It remains to be seen what plans United will have for the summer transfer window, with midfield expected to be an area of the squad that is looked at for reinforcements.

Carlos Baleba (Brighton), Elliot Anderson (Nottingham Forest) and Adam Wharton (Crystal Palace) have all been linked with signing for United over the last few months, and the speculation is likely to continue as the summer transfer window approaches.

United were linked with signing a defender during the January window, with reports emerging that the Red Devils made an attempt to sign Jeremy Jacquet from Rennes.

However, United were beaten to the signing of the talented centre-back by Liverpool, who confirmed that Jacquet will join the Merseyside club in the summer in a £60m after spending the rest of the campaign at Rennes.
