A colossal blizzard spanning 400 miles is on track to engulf the country, dumping heavy snow across vast swathes. A whopping 26 cities across the country are likely to be impacted with the worst hit areas to be buried in 130cm of snow.
Brutal WXCHARTS snow maps have turned purple, white and in places yellow, indicating that extremely heavy snow will soon make its impact known on the country. Recently, the UK has been enjoying milder conditions; however, weather maps indicate that the bone-chilling weather will soon make a dramatic U-turn. The heavy snow is set to smash into the country at midnight on Monday, February 16.
The entirety of Scotland is barely visible in the weather maps, with the entire country covered by a massive wall of snow. Parts of Perth and Kinross are estimated to see an eye watering 130cm of snow, its surrounding areas will see snow depths hover between 20cm-80cm.
Snow depths will hit 12cm in the Scottish Highlands whilst Argyll and Bute will see between 10cm-11cm. Elsewhere, North Yorkshire will be the worst hit area in England with up to 19cm of snow likely.
Snow depths could hit 13cm in Cumbria whilst Northumberland and Durham will see between 9cm-10cm of snow.
Lancashire will also be badly hit, with 10cm of snow forecast, whilst the Midlands will see up to 4cm.
Snow maps indicate that North Wales will see the largest amount of snow in Wales, with 5cm forecast. Parts of southwest England could also see a dusting of snow.
Temperatures are set to plummet to below sub-zero, those in Perth and Kinross will want to brace themselves as the mercury will plunge to an icy -5C.
The rest of Scotland will see temperatures hovering around 0C to -2C. In England, Yorkshire and the Humber will see the coldest temperatures with -2C forecast, the northeast and northwest will both see temperatures around -1C.
Devon and Cornwall will see the warmest temperatures in the country, of around 4C-5C.
