Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor promoted Jeffrey Epstein to United Arab Emirates officials during a 2010 state visit with the late Queen, newly released emails reveal.
The former prince contacted Epstein on November 24 that year following discussions with “Abdullah” – Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE’s foreign minister.
Mountbatten-Windsor, who held the Duke of York title at the time, wrote: “You are in big time. He thinks you are great and would like to introduce you to Sheikh Mohammed, the Crown Prince.”
The correspondence occurred during a state visit to the UAE involving his mother Queen Elizabeth II, father Prince Philip and William Hague, then serving as UK foreign secretary.
Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan held the crown prince of Abu Dhabi position in 2010 before becoming the emirate’s ruler and UAE president in 2022.
Neither Sheikh Mohamed nor Sheikh Abdullah face suggestions of wrongdoing.
Official duties compromised
The emails represent the latest evidence demonstrating how Mountbatten-Windsor’s Epstein connection infiltrated his official capacities as both working royal and special representative for UK trade and investment.
King Charles III’s younger brother occupied the trade representative position from 2001 through 2011 and maintained working royal status until abandoning public responsibilities amid Epstein controversy in 2019.
Epstein received a 2008 conviction for soliciting prostitution from a minor, completing his house arrest period for the offence in July 2010 – just months before the email exchanges took place.

Justice Department files expose coordination
US Department of Justice files from the Epstein investigation contain substantial volumes of material concerning Mountbatten-Windsor.
The documents indicate Epstein had personally met Sheikh Abdullah shortly before the Queen’s state visit and subsequently provided Mountbatten-Windsor with specific talking points to encourage the foreign minister’s cooperation.
Epstein’s suggested arguments emphasising the sheikh could trust him, he further highlighted his financial expertise, described himself as a “funder of extreme science” and concluded with the single word “fun.”
Epstein responded to Mountbatten-Windsor’s meeting summary by proposing a joint vacation involving all three men.
He wrote: “Ask Abdullah for a date when we can all go on vacation.”
No evidence suggests such a holiday occurred, though a December 3, 2010 email showed Epstein’s assistant attempting to arrange a three-way telephone call between the men.

Cancelled UAE meeting
The files documented Epstein’s August 2011 UAE visit, with multiple emails referencing a planned encounter between him and the foreign minister that was cancelled at the final moment.
Epstein was discovered dead in a New York jail cell in 2019 while awaiting sex trafficking trial.
The UAE’s foreign ministry was asked to comment.
Mountbatten-Windsor’s representatives via Buckingham Palace were also invited to comment.
