Bristol police station cordoned off as bomb disposal unit called in | UK | News

Officers have cordoned off a police station this afternoon, and an Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit was called to the scene.

The police station on Broadbury Road in Knowle West, Bristol, has been partially evacuated this afternoon as a precaution, after a member of the public handed in what appeared to be a hand granade, Avon and Somerset Police said.

The force confirmed no homes have been evacuated, but a cordon is in place outside the station, and the Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit has been called to make the item safe.

A police spokesperson said: “Broadbury Road Police Station has been partially evacuated as a precaution after a member of the public handed in what appears to be a hand grenade. The item was handed in at about 3.40pm on Friday 13 February.

“Broadbury Road is closed to allow for a cordon outside the police station, but no homes have been evacuated. The Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit will be attending to make the object safe.” As of 6.14pm, the Daily Express understands the police cordon is still in place on Broadbury Road. The EOD arrived at the scene at around 6.30pm
