A car burst into flames on a busy main road in Burnley, with emergency services rushing to the scene. Firefighters arrived at Padiham Road on Thursday just after 8pm.
The road is one of the town’s primary arterial roads running west out of Burnley town centre toward Padiham. Dramatic pictures showed the car up in flames on the pavement in a residential area. The vehicle is placed dangerously close to overhanging trees and bushes. The blaze is reported to have caused severe damage to the vehicle however is not believed to have spread further. Firefighters secured the area and spent just under an hour extinguishing the flames.
An incident log for Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service read: “At 20:10 on the 19th February 2026, one fire engine from Burnley attended a vehicle fire on Padiham Road, Burnley.
“Firefighters wore breathing apparatus and used one hose reel and one hose reel jet to extinguish the fire. Crews were in attendance for fifty minutes.”
No injuries have yet been reported and the cause of the fire has not yet been established.
