Princess Kate makes ‘symbolic’ move with bold gesture at BAFTAs | Royal | News

Catherine wore a recycled white and pink gown by Gucci, diamond jewellery and styled her hair in tight curls. She completed the look with a smoky eye and a glowy base.

Kristy Dale, owner of Red Carpet Ready, said that Catherine’s appearance marked a “symbolic return to the spotlight for the Prince and Princess after a period away from public engagements and a difficult week for the royals”.

She told the Mirror: “Ethereal tones are the colour story of the season, and Kate absolutely nailed this – epitomising it beautifully in her choice of dress.

“She never puts a foot wrong on the red carpet, and [Sunday] is no exception. The soft palette works perfectly with her hair, creating a seamless, glowing finish.”

Regarding the princess’s accessories, the style expert said: “Accessorised to perfection with chandelier earrings and a diamond bracelet, likely historic pieces from the royal collection, the look feels both timeless and intentional. She consistently shows understated regal poise: effortless yet refined.”

Ms Dale concluded that the future queen delivered a “ masterclass in tonal sophistication” with her appearance on Sunday. During the awards ceremony, Catherine said she saw the outstanding British film Hamnet on Saturday.

She said it was “really very very powerful”, praising the “fantastic” and “raw” music score and talking about its portrayal of “intergenerational grief”.

Chatting with the chairwoman of Bafta’s film committee, Emily Stillman, and executive director of the charity’s awards and content, Emma Baehr, the princess said: “Yes, I think it was a very bad idea actually… ended up with very puffy eyes.”

It came just a few days after disgraced Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office.

The former Duke of York was held in custody for 11 hours on Thursday, before being released under investigation.
