A man has been found guilty of the attempted sexual assault of a girl aged under the age of 13 whilst on an easyJet flight. While Ramiz Idrizi, residing at Woodvale Avenue in Dublin, was acquitted of one charge of assaulting a woman, he was convicted of trying to sexually assault her teenage daughter and the apprehension assault of a male passenger who had confronted him.
Before the contested hearing began at Ballymena Magistrates Court, the 38-year-old pleaded guilty to being intoxicated on an aircraft and to using offensive language towards cabin crew. During the four-hour trial, the court heard how the incident took place on an easyJet flight from Paris to Belfast International on November 14, 2025.

Idrizi had drunk most of the five small wine bottles he had bought during the flight. When the plane was about half an hour from landing at Belfast International, the girl’s mother said the defendant “was kicking my seat”, reports Belfast Live.
At one point during the flight, Idrizi said “I’m horny” and reached between the fuselage and the seat, trying to touch the young girl’s leg, causing her to jump up.
A man sitting in the same row as the mother testified that he saw “a flash of a hand” beside the child’s seat. Noticing that both were uncomfortable with the situation, he offered to swap seats.
He confronted Idrizi about his behaviour but the defendant responded by saying, “your mother’s a slut”.
The court was told that moments before that incident, Idrizi had been heard “hacking up phlegm” and the woman sat in the aisle seat in the same row said that he had been “spitting and talking to himself.”
Cabin crew were alerted to the situation and after announcing that alcohol was no longer being served, approached Idrizi.
He refused requests to hand over his remaining wine and to change seats. The passengers around him were moved instead but the court was told that as the aircraft began its descent into Belfast, Idrizi was observed “punching the wall of the fuselage.”
Giving evidence on his own behalf, Idrizi admitted that he called the passenger’s mother a slut and that he was intoxicated.
He denied attempting to touch the girl, arguing that as a six-foot-tall man, the only time he made contact with her seat was when grabbing it whilst standing up. He also denied that he had been spitting or hacking up phlegm.
However, when delivering his ruling, District Judge Nigel Broderick said he was satisfied that the witnesses, both passengers and cabin crew, had provided “credible and reliable evidence.”
After recording the guilty verdicts, Judge Broderick said: “I think in fairness to the defendant, I’m going to get a report.”
Releasing Idrizi on bail, the judge said he would deal with the case on April 28.
