BBC and Sky Sports presenter Mark Chapman has discovered fresh romance following the tragic passing of his wife. Chapman returns to our screens this evening to anchor coverage of the FA Cup quarter-final encounter between Southampton and Arsenal. He will be accompanied by pundits Micah Richards and Theo Walcott in fronting the fixture on BBC One. Kick-off at St Mary’s Stadium is scheduled for 8pm after the completion of Saturday’s earlier FA Cup fixtures – Manchester City vs Liverpool and Chelsea vs Port Vale.
The 52-year-old is well-versed in hosting such high-profile fixtures, having established himself as one of the most recognisable and popular personalities in UK sports broadcasting over the years. Beyond football tournaments such as the FA Cup and the World Cup, Chapman is a familiar presence in covering the NFL, the Olympics and rugby league. Last year, he secured the most significant role of his television career when he was appointed as one of the three new Match of the Day presenters.
Chapman shares the responsibility of anchoring the BBC‘s flagship football programme with Kelly Cates and Gabby Logan, the latter with whom he also hosts The Sports Agents podcast.
However, while Chapman is at the peak of his career, his occupational accomplishments have materialised despite an enormously difficult period in his personal life. Chapman’s wife, Sara, tragically passed away in June 2020 at the age of 44.
The pair wed in 2001 and welcomed three children together. Sara was subsequently diagnosed with cancer and died following an extended battle with the disease.
A source told The Sun at the time: “Sadly Sara passed away on June 3. Mark and the kids are absolutely devastated. The family was there and it’s just a really sad situation. They’re an extremely private family and would appreciate people respecting that.”
Despite the evident heartbreak for Chapman and his loved ones, the presenter found love once more. It emerged in 2024 that he entered into a relationship with estate agent Clere Collier, who is believed to be seven years his junior.
On the presenter’s 51st birthday, Collier – who is understood to be based in Dubai but makes frequent visits to Britain – paid tribute to her “one love,” sharing a photograph of Chapman and writing: “Happy birthday to this one. My one love.
“So proud of all you do, the biggest heart, the kindest soul, the leader of our pack and not to mention devilishly handsome. I love you, happy 51.”
The Sun reports that Collier formerly worked at an agency in Hampstead in north London and was regarded as a “socialite,” with her celebrity acquaintances including actors, singers and radio DJ Chris Moyles.
The publication claims she has been married twice previously. Collier has two children from those relationships, and she also once dated Another Level boyband star, Dane Bowers. At the start of 2025, Collier and Chapman were pictured enjoying a romantic stroll through the streets of Altrincham.
