Donald Trump appeared to struggle to close an umbrella again, in yet another viral moment.
The incident occurred on Friday afternoon as he boarded Air Force One at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland en route to his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida.
Trump headed up the stairs bound for the jet under stormy skies, but as he approached the aircraft doors, he appeared to struggle to close his umbrella.
The US President opted to abandon the umbrella completely, throwing it to one side and making his way into the cabin – just as he did previously in October.
The moment went viral online, with many questioning why he couldn’t close it himself.
One wrote: “Even in small, insignificant gestures, Trump impressively demonstrates just what an idiot he is. He isn’t even capable of closing an umbrella and leaves that to the Secret Service.”
Another said: “Donald Trump is getting mocked after video shows him walking away without even closing his own umbrella before boarding the plane.
A third added: “Trump leaving the umbrella for someone else to close, because he can’t do it himself, is a perfect illustration of what he did with Iran.”
And a fourth commented: “Classic Trump: he couldn’t close the umbrella himself, so he just left it for someone else to deal with. Exactly what he did with Iran.”
Talks have continued over the weekend between the US and Iran in Pakistan, days after a fragile, two-week ceasefire was announced.
The White House confirmed the direct nature of the talks, a rare instance of high-level engagement. Iranian state TV said talks continued as of 1am Sunday in Islamabad.
Donald Trump has claimed the US has begun clearing mines in the Strait of Hormuz “as a favor to countries all over the world”.
In a post on his Truth Social app, the US president said Iran’s minelaying ships “are also lying at the bottom of the sea”.
He added: “The only thing they have going is the threat that a ship may ‘bunk’ into one of their sea mines which, by the way, all 28 of their mine dropper boats are also lying at the bottom of the sea.
“We’re now starting the process of clearing out the Strait of Hormuz as a favour to Countries all over the World, including China, Japan, South Korea, France, Germany, and many others. Incredibly, they don’t have the Courage or Will to do this work themselves.”
