A serious crash on the M1 this evening has seen emergency services rush to the scene, with drivers warned to expect delays to their journeys. The major UK motorway in South Yorkshire is closed between junction 36 (Tankersley) and junction 35 (Rotherham), with pictures showing heavy traffic on approach to the incident.
National Highways said emergency services, including South Yorkshire Police, are in attendance. Motorway camera footage shows traffic being held. National Highways wrote: “The M1 in South Yorkshire is closed southbound between J36 (Tankersley) and J35 (Rotherham) due to a serious collision which occurred at approx. 19:48 this evening. Emergency services including South Yorkshire Police are in attendance. National Highways Traffic Officers are also on scene to assist with traffic management.”
