Large parts of England are set for a mini spring scorcher this weekend, with weather maps showing temperatures may hit 21C in some areas – hotter than Ibiza. Weather maps from WXCharts, generated on April 21 using Met Desk data, suggest the warmer conditions will arrive on Saturday, April 25, with southern and central parts of the country seeing highs between 18C and 21C by 6pm.
London, the South East, East Anglia and parts of the Midlands are expected to be among the warmest areas, the maps suggest. Forecast maps show temperatures of 20C across London, Essex, Kent and Hertfordshire, while parts of Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire and the East Midlands could also reach 20C or 21C. Further south-west, places including Bristol, Somerset and parts of Devon are expected to see temperatures around 18C to 19C, according to the charts. Much of Wales is forecast to sit between 16C and 18C, while northern England could see highs of 15C to 18C, while Scotland is expected to be cooler overall, although some western areas could still enjoy temperatures of 15C or 16C, the maps show. Northern and eastern Scotland are likely to stay much chillier, with highs of just 6C to 10C in some places, the maps show.
The warmer conditions are expected to arrive after a cooler and more unsettled spell earlier in the week, bringing a more pleasant end to April for many parts of the UK.
The predicted highs would make parts of Britain warmer than Ibiza, where temperatures on Saturday, April 25, are expected to peak at around 20C.
According to Spanish national forecaster AEMET, Ibiza is forecast to see a high of 20C and a low of 10C on Saturday, along with sunny intervals, a 50% chance of rain later in the day and easterly winds of around 15km/h.
Ibiza is then expected to stay warm into Sunday and Monday, with highs of 21C and 22C respectively.
The warmest conditions in the UK are expected to be focused across inland parts of southern and eastern England, while coastal areas may remain slightly cooler due to sea breezes.
Separately, the Met Office forecast looking at the days between Thursday and Saturday read: “Largely settled this week with plenty of sunshine, and winds easing. Cloudy and cool at times along eastern coasts with an onshore breeze. Warming up in the south and west.”
