Politics LIVE: Nightmare for Keir Starmer as Labour MPs to launch ‘plot to oust him’ | Politics | News

The Green Party has been “taken over” by people expelled from Labour for antisemitism, a Cabinet minister has claimed.

Asked whether he was concerned by polling that suggested British Muslims were more likely to base their local election vote on the conflict in the Middle East, Communities Secretary Steve Reed told Times Radio: “It does concern me.

“It’s up to people to choose how they want to use their own votes, of course, it’s not for me to tell them what they should and shouldn’t do.

“But in our elections, we should be focusing on the things on the ground here at home.

“Most people I speak to in these local elections tell me that they’re going to vote based on their levels of council tax, local public services and things like potholes in the road.

“Now, I’ve seen the Green Party has been taken over by a lot of the hard-left people that were kicked out of Labour for antisemitism and they’re certainly trying to promote foreign issues, including what’s going on in Israel, Palestine and Gaza, rather than focusing on the local issues on the ground.”
