A man in his 30s has died after a horror crash between two vans on the M5 on Wednesday (May 7). Emergency services rushed to the scene after a white Luton Van collided with a Volkswagen Transporter on the northbound carriageway before coming off the road close to junction 9.
Police closed the busy stretch of the motorway near Cheltenham, Gloucestershire. Gloucestershire Police have now confirmed the driver of the van, in his 30s, from Warwickshire, died at the scene. The people in the Volkswagen Transporter were not seriously injured.
The M5 northbound carriageway was closed between junctions 11 and 9 while emergency services responded to the incident and to allow a collision investigation to take place.
The motorway was reopened earlier this morning (Thursday, 7 May) and officers would like to thank motorists for their patience and co-operation during the closure.
Investigating officers are now appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision, saw either vehicle prior to the collision, or has any relevant dashcam footage to get in contact with Gloucestershire Police.
