Netflix fans will be pleased to learn of a popular period drama currently streaming on the platform. Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man British crime drama film directed by Tom Harper and written by Steven Knight, and released this year.

The film is a continuation of the television series Peaky Blinders, which ran from 2013–2022, and stars Cillian Murphy alongside an ensemble cast including Sophie Rundle, Ned Dennehy, Packy Lee, Ian Peck, and Stephen Graham, who reprised their roles, with new additions Rebecca Ferguson, Tim Roth, Jay Lycurgo, and Barry Keoghan.

The film’s synopsis reads: “Birmingham, 1940. Amidst the chaos of WWII, Tommy Shelby is driven back from a self-imposed exile to face his most destructive reckoning yet. With the future of the family and the country at stake, Tommy must face his own demons and choose whether to confront his legacy or burn it to the ground. By order of the Peaky Blinders….”

The Immortal Man has amassed an impressive 90% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with the critics’ consensus stating: “Capping off Tommy Shelby’s story with grit and swagger, The Immortal Man is a satisfying conclusion to Peaky Blinders that also stands tall on its own self-contained terms.”

One critic said: “There’s stunning cinematography, jaw-dropping moments, and the booming rock soundtrack the Peaky Blinders franchise is known for. It really closes out this chapter with a bang.”

Another added: “The casting and performances in Peaky Blinders are uniformly excellent, and the presence of powerful women such as Ferguson’s Roma sisters finding ways to exert their authority is rare and welcome.”

A viewer wrote: “I loved it, the perfect bow on a gift. It was deeply emotional, and the theme of the show was ultimately family, kin, the clan.”

“Just a fantastic ending to one of the greatest TV series of all time,” added a second.

Another said: “I never saw the series, did not know anything about the background of this story, and it was still easy to follow. Cillian Murphy and Barry Keoghan did a phenomenal job portraying father and son with a painful relationship. I thought the movie was interesting, unusual and well-acted by everyone in it.”

Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man is available to stream on Netflix now.
