The transition of Harry Diamond from Rory McIlroy’s lifelong friend to his caddie has proved extraordinarily lucrative. Having entered the final round at Augusta level at the top of the leaderboard alongside Cam Young, McIlroy carded a one-under 71 to successfully defend his Masters title with a 12-under total.
Scottie Scheffler ignited and surged through the field during a blistering round, yet the Northern Irishman held firm. The last player to successfully defend his crown and secure back-to-back Masters titles was Tiger Woods, who achieved the feat by triumphing in 2001 and 2002.
As a result, McIlroy has entered a remarkably elite group as just one of four golfers in history to successfully defend their title at Augusta National, alongside Jack Nicklaus (1965–66), Nick Faldo (1989–90), and Woods.
McIlroy is now a six-time major champion and a two-time Masters winner, having claimed consecutive titles at Augusta with Diamond on the bag. He has served as McIlroy’s caddie since August 2017, stepping in to replace J.P. Fitzgerald.

Diamond’s role has grown from simply carrying clubs to becoming a vital, high-pressure partnership — and this evolution is unmistakably evident in the earnings of those supporting golf’s elite performers.
A lifelong friend of McIlroy, Diamond has seen his personal wealth grow substantially after years of working alongside the Northern Irishman, despite facing scrutiny as McIlroy endured an 11-year drought in pursuit of his fifth major championship.
The financial landscape of professional golf continues to balloon, with prize money hitting unprecedented heights. Following McIlroy’s Augusta triumph last month, which secured him a record-breaking £3.3million winner’s cheque, Diamond is believed to have banked a handsome £330,000 from that event alone.
Caddies generally receive approximately 10 per cent of tournament winnings and around seven per cent for top-10 finishes, meaning Diamond’s long-standing partnership with one of golf’s elite players has proved exceptionally lucrative.

He’s reported to have earned £1.47m as McIlroy’s caddie during the 2025 season, placing him amongst the highest-paid caddies in the sport, with figures over many players on the PGA Tour
Over the course of his career, which has spanned almost nine years alongside McIlroy, Diamond’s cumulative earnings have now exceeded £8m. His net worth is estimated to sit in the £2.2m bracket.
Diamond’s role as both a dependable caddie and trusted confidant to one of golf’s biggest earners has established him as one of the wealthiest bag carriers on the PGA Tour.
McIlroy acknowledges his caddie’s importance and highlighted the value of his counsel in his 2025 Masters victory over Justin Rose in the playoff. As McIlroy was thrust into a playoff with Rose, Diamond stepped in with eight words that proved to be pivotal: “We would have taken this on Monday morning.”
Speaking after the round, McIlroy revealed: “I’m like, ‘Yeah, absolutely we would have.’ That was an easy reset. He basically said to me, ‘Look, you would have given your right arm to be in a playoff at the start of the week.’ So that reframed it a little bit for me.”
