Iran’s 4 demands that infuriated Trump – including complete nuclear refusal | World | News

US President Donald Trump has hit out against Iran’s representatives as the two countries attempt to broker a long-term peace dead.

Pakistan has been mediating talks between the two countries. Although a fragile short-term ceasefire holds, no long-term peace agreement has been reached.

Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social that he has received a response to a peace proposal. He was infuriated.

He said: “I have just read the response from Iran’s so-called “Representatives.” I don’t like it — TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE! Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DONALD J. TRUMP”

The latest US proposal had addressed a deal to end the war, reopen the Strait of Hormuz and scale back on Tehran’s nuclear program.

It is understood that Iran’s response to the latest peace proposal refuses to address its nuclear program, focusing instead on ending the fighting across the Middle East.

According to the IRNA news agency, the Iranian counter-offer seeks to ensure the security of shipping through the Strait of Hormuz before starting talks on more contentious issues such as Iran’s nuclear program.

Iran’s semi-official Tasnim news agency said the following points were made in Iran’s counter-proposal, citing an “informed source”:

  • An end to the war on all fronts
  • Lifting of sanctions on Tehran by the US Office of Foreign Assets Control on Iranian oil sales for a 30-day period
  • An end to the naval blockade on Iran
  • Iranian management of the Strait of Hormuz if “certain commitments are undertaken by the US”

It is understood that these proposals will be in exchange for a 30-day nuclear talk period where negotiations can take place.

The Express has not been able to independently verify the validity of these requests.
