Man Utd and Marcus Rashford in transfer agreement as agents ‘fly to Barcelona’ | Football | Sport

Marcus Rashford and Manchester United are reportedly in agreement ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window. Rashford has resurrected his career after it went stale at Old Trafford, helping Barcelona to their second consecutive La Liga title during a year-long loan spell with the Catalan club.

The winger netted in Barcelona’s recent win over rivals Real Madrid, and is all but secure of a spot in Thomas Tuchel’s England squad for the World Cup, which is set to be announced next week. Across all competitions, Rashford has registered 28 goal contributions this season, and has gone on record to say his preferred outcome would be a permanent move to Barcelona.

Whether he gets his wish is another matter, given that Barcelona are said to be deliberating over making the loan move a permanent one. If for whatever reason, the deal collapses, Rashford would have to look for a move elsewhere, or even still, return to United and fight for his place in the team.

However, one thing United and Rashford’s representatives agree on is settling the saga as soon as possible. It’s reported by the Daily Mail that neither camp is looking to elongate the process, with Rashford keen to resolve his future at the earliest possible opportunity.

United are expecting Rashford to leave permanently this summer and have factored the removal of his wages from their books as part of their plans. The Red Devils have rejected Barcelona’s request to extend the loan for a further season, even though they boast a £26million option to buy.

Meanwhile, Rashford doesn’t want this lingering over his head during the World Cup, so is keen to get things sorted before England fly out to North America for this summer’s tournament. As such, his representatives flew out to Barcelona for the weekend Clasico against Real Madrid with a view to discussing his future after the contest.

Rashford was asked about his future following Sunday’s clash, with the forward saying: “I don’t know. I am not a magician, but if I was, I would stay. So we will see… It’s really good. I come here to win. I want to win as many things as I can. So, this is one more to add to this. Yeah, this team is a wonderful team. They’re going to win so much in the future as well. So, to be a part of that would be special. So we will see.”
