President Donald Trump is on day two of his visit to meet the Chinese leader, having brought a sizeable entourage along with him.
The Republican president touched down in China on Wednesday for the three-day trip, which marks the first occasion a U.S. president has met with the Chinese leader since Trump’s last visit in 2017. Trump is seeking to strike political deals with Xi Jinping, including agreements to purchase more American food and aircraft.
Melania is not accompanying her husband on the trip, despite having been by his side during that 2017 visit. In her place, he has brought a host of other personnel, including son Eric Trump, daughter-in-law Lara Trump, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and several high-profile CEOs, amongst them Apple’s Tim Cook and Tesla’s Elon Musk.
Also travelling with him are three female aides, who tend to keep a relatively low profile. Anna Kelly, a White House spokeswoman; Natalie Harp, a close presidential aide; and Margo Martin, a communications adviser, are all part of the delegation — and you may well be more familiar with their work than you realise.

Who are Trump’s aides on the China visit?
Anna Kelly
Anna Kelly, 29, is the deputy White House press secretary, and she is just a year older than press secretary Karoline Leavitt. Originally from Fairfax, Virginia, she was crowned Miss State Fair of Virginia in 2019. Kelly boasts an impressive political career, with her LinkedIn profile revealing she served as communications director for the Republican Party of Wisconsin, communications director for Tim Michels during his unsuccessful 2022 Wisconsin campaign, communications director for the office of Representative Derrick Van Orden in the US House of Representatives, and national press secretary for the Republican National Convention.
During an appearance on The Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show, she offered an insight into life at the White House, revealing she is “having so much fun” working for the president.
“It’s extremely exciting to be part of the process and really helping correct all the mistakes over the past four years,” Kelly said.
While many had speculated she might step in to cover for Leavitt during her maternity leave, other members of Trump’s cabinet have taken on the role instead.

Natalie Harp
Harp, 35, has served as executive assistant to the president since January 2025. She has reportedly earned the nickname “human printer” due to her habit of carrying a wireless printer to produce news stories for Trump while on the move, according to Alex Isenstadt, author of Revenge: The Inside Story of Trump’s Return to Power. Harp, a California native, is a bone cancer survivor who publicly backed Trump at the 2020 Republican National Convention. A former television presenter, she joined Trump’s communications team in 2022.
Sources familiar with the situation told the Wall Street Journal that Harp is largely responsible for Trump’s outbursts on Truth Social. She reportedly prints out batches of drafted social media posts for the president to review and sign off on, before logging into his account and uploading the Trump-approved content in bulk.
This allegedly encompasses the images of former President Barack Obama and former first lady Michele Obama depicted as apes, which were posted and subsequently deleted on Feb. 5, as well as an AI-generated image of Trump portrayed as Jesus Christ, posted and deleted on April 12.
“Truth Social has never been hotter, and it’s because President Trump offers his unfiltered and direct thoughts to the American people, without the biased media taking him out of context,” White House Communication Director Steven Cheung said in a statement to the WSJ.
“We don’t discuss internal deliberations of how the process works, but no other social-media tool has been more effective than Truth.”

Margo Martin
Margo Martin, 30, serves as special assistant and communications adviser to Trump, overseeing his social media presence. She is reportedly a constant presence at the president’s side, capturing candid moments on an iPhone camera, which are subsequently transformed into political memes across the internet, according to the Washington Post.
During Trump’s most recent trip to Asia in 2025, her footage of the former president accumulated nearly 50 million views on her personal X account, alongside 222 million views on the @TeamTrump Instagram.
Martin served as a press assistant throughout Trump’s first term, and remained in his employ after he departed office in 2021. She even relocated to Palm Beach, Florida, at the time to assist with his social media operations, and he once described her as “the most beautiful photographer in the world.”
One of her recordings of Trump’s book interviews was submitted as evidence in special counsel Jack Smith’s investigation into the president’s handling of classified documents, and she was summoned before a federal grand jury.
Karoline Leavitt said of her, “She has the trust of the president,’ adding that ” adding that “she’s able to really see the inner workings of his every day and share that with the American public.”
