US President Donald Trump has suggested running for the role of Prime Minister of Israel, where he said his approval rating is almost 100%.
Trump said on Wednesday, May 20: “I’m right now at 99% in Israel.”
“I could run for prime minister, so maybe after I do this, I’ll go to Israel and run for prime minister.”
The US and Israel, long-time allies, carried out joint strikes on several key Iranian sites on February 28.
Iran retaliated by striking sites across the Middle East and closing the critical Strait of Hormuz trade route, through which 20% of global oil traded passes.
The confict, currently kept at bay by a fragile short-term ceasefire, has rocked global markets and driven up fuel prices across the world.

The Daily Express previously reported that Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had an explosive phone call as the two leaders clashed over Iran on Wednesday, May 20 a report claims.
Two Israeli sources said to be familiar with the content of the call told Israel’s Channel 12 that the US President and Israel’s leader disagreed on the way forward over their war with Iran.
Trump reportedly told his Israeli counterpart in the call on Tuesday, May 19, that mediators were working on a “letter of intent” which both Washington and Tehran would sign.
Channel 12, citing a US source, reported that this could result in an end to the conflict and the opening of 30 days of negotiations on issues including re-opening the Strait of Hormuz and Iran’s nuclear program.
Netanyahu was reportedly sceptical and urged the US to continue to exert military pressure on Iran to weaken the regime.

According to data published updated on May 20 and published by the Economist, Trump’s approval rating were as follows: 37% of Americans approve, 57% disapprove and 5% not sure 485 days into Trump’s second term.
Trump’s approval rating is sagging ahead of the US midterm elections to be held on November 3.
Americans will vote on 435 seats in the House of Representatives about one-third of the 100 seats in the Senate, several governors, state legislatures, mayors and local offices.
Americans will not vote for a new president in the midterms, but can vote to completely change who controls Congress.
The Economist poll found that the Iran war has hurt Trump’s standing, “but it is his handling of the economy that is really dragging him down.”
