Royals snub Prince Harry and Meghan on eighth anniversary | Royal | News

The royal family made no attempt to mark Harry and Meghan’s eighth wedding anniversary, with sources claiming the silence was a deliberate snub that laid bare just how little progress has been made towards reconciliation.

“There was no phone call, no private message, no peace offering — absolutely nothing,” a source told Rob Shuter in his Naughty But Nice Substack. “The silence was very intentional.”

What did Harry and Meghan do on their anniversary?

On the day itself, Meghan gave her followers a glimpse of the couple’s private celebrations, posting footage of Harry arriving with a lemon elderflower cake and a small penguin figurine, the latter a nod to the matching penguin onesies the pair famously wore at their engagement party.

She followed that with two curated galleries of images from the 2018 ceremony, a selection that, sources noted, had been assembled with a conspicuous absence: not a single member of the royal family appeared in any of them.

“That omission did not go unnoticed,” a second source told Shuter. “The photos focused entirely on Harry and Meghan. It was like the royals had been erased from the story.”

Is Harry trying to reconcile with King Charles and Prince William?

There has been considerable speculation about a so-called “Project Thaw”, aneffort by the Duke of Sussex to rebuild his relationships with his father, King Charles, and his brother, the Prince of Wales, reported National Examiner. But insiders suggested the initiative was being viewed with scepticism within the royal family.

“Harry keeps sending signals through the media about reconciliation,” a third source told Shuter. “But many inside the family think this is more about winning the PR narrative than genuinely rebuilding trust.”

The source painted a bleak picture of the underlying state of relations. “There’s still enormous hurt, anger, and suspicion. Moments like this don’t heal the divide — they expose how wide it still is.”

What are King Charles’s conditions for a reconciliation?

A meeting with Charles last September brought a 19-month period of estrangement to an end, but those close to the situation say the relationship between father and son remains delicate.

No equivalent breakthrough has taken place with William, 43. The couple share two children, Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lilibet, four.

A source previously told Examiner that Charles was not prepared to restore relations on Harry’s terms. “If Harry wants to have a relationship with him, he’s going to have to do it on Charles’ terms,” the source said, adding that the King was “not going to be taking orders from Meghan.”
