Man, woman and child die after ‘fall from height’ in South London | UK | News

Emergency services rushed to a street in Elephant and Castle, South London, following reports that people had fallen from a height.

A child, a woman, and a man died after falling from a tower block. The emergency services raced to Churchyard Row, Elephant and Castle, at about 7.30am on Wednesday, 27 May, but all three people were pronounced dead at the scene.

Metropolitan Police said “work is underway to formally identify those who died”. Their next of keen have been informed, the force also said.

A spokesperson said: “Met detectives are investigating after three people died following a fall from height on Wednesday, 27 May. At 7.29am officers, the London Ambulance Service, London’s Air Ambulance and the London Fire Brigade attended a high-rise block of flats on Churchyard Row, Elephant and Castle, following reports that people had fallen from height.

“At the scene, three people – a man, a woman and a child – were found to have sadly died, despite resuscitation attempts by first responders. Their deaths are currently being treated as unexpected.

“There were no other reported injuries. Work is underway to formally identify those who died. Their next-of-kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

London Ambulance Service also attended, and a spokesperson said their “first paramedic arrived in around four minutes”. “Very sadly, despite the best efforts of our crews, three people were pronounced dead the scene,” the spokesperson also said.

Any witnesses, or anyone with information, is urged to come forward and call police on 101, quoting CAD 1613/27MAY.
