Man ‘sexually assaulted’ in Morrisons car park as another man arrested | UK | News

Police have made an urgent appeal for witnesses after a man was sexually assaulted in a Morrisons car park. The man was approached and inappropriately touched outside the supermarket on Victoria Promenade, Northampton, between 8.30pm and 9pm on May 27.

He was then followed before seeking help and leaving the area. A 31-year-old man from Northampton has been arrested in connection with the incident and remains in police custody.

Northamptonshire Police now want to speak to the group of teenagers who assisted the victim, as they may have important information which could help with the investigation.

Witnesses or anyone with information have been urged to contact the force on 101, quoting incident number 26000307103.

The force said: “Police officers are appealing for witnesses following a sexual assault in the Morrisons car park on Victoria Promenade, Northampton.

“The incident happened between 8.50pm and 9pm on Wednesday, May 27, when a man was approached, inappropriately touched, and followed before seeking help and leaving the area.

“A 31-year-old man from Northampton has been arrested in connection with the incident and remains in police custody.

“Officers are particularly keen to speak to the group of teenagers who assisted the victim, as they may have important information which could help with the investigation.

“Anyone who witnessed the incident or has relevant information is also urged to come forward.”
