Beauty chain with 200 UK high street stores closes in UK city | UK | News

A beauty chain with some 200 branches in the UK is closing an outlet in one British city after 10 years. Sally Beauty in Lord Street, Liverpool, sells hair, nail and beauty products to the public and professionals.

The branch in Liverpool ONE shopping centre urged customers to take advantage of a sale ahead of its closure in July. It said: “It is with deep sadness we announce Liverpool Lord Street will be closing down early in July this year.

“Before we close our doors for the final time pop in and grab a bargain as selected lines are 70% off.”

The Lord Street outlet, quoted by the Liverpool Echo, added: “The whole team want to thank customers past and present for all [their] custom over the last 10 years.”

Sally Beauty describes itself as the largest distributor of professional hair and beauty products in the world.

According to the company, there are more than 235 Sally Beauty shops in the UK and Ireland, part of 4,000 worldwide.

It started out as Sally Beauty Supply in New Orleans in 1964 and expanded into the UK and Ireland from 1987.

The business, which has 400 shops in Europe alone, celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2024.

A branch in Deansgate, Bolton, closed in January after another outlet in Stanley Square, Sale, Greater Manchester, shut its doors for the final time last year.

In its latest results, US parent company Sally Beauty Holdings reported consolidated net sales of £670million ($903m), a 2.3% rise on the year before.

President and CEO Denise Paulonis said the company was positioned to deliver “consistent, profitable” growth and shareholder value over the long term, Business Wire reported on May 11.

US investment bank, Raymond James, last month lowered its price target on Sally Beauty Holdings from £14.11 ($19) to £13.37 ($18), but maintained its expectation that the company would generate a better return.

Investing.com reports bosses have been reshaping Sally Beauty Stores and Beauty Systems Group. This includes “exiting” Sally Beauty stores in Europe that are deemed “underperforming”.

Sally Beauty’s Lord Street branch was approached for comment.
