Prince Harry is said to have had a longstanding fear that Prince William’s children would “overshadow” him, it has been claimed. Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis grew up in the royal spotlight, much like their uncle, with the eldest of the three children having recently received attention over which school he will attend this year.
The 12-year-old, who will begin his teenage years this summer, is set to leave Lambrook School in July. George will, due to his age, start at a new, as yet unknown, school in September.
But royal biographer Andrew Morton has claimed that Harry has long had concerns that George, Charlotte and Louis will outshine him.
He recently claimed to the Daily Mail‘s Palace Confidential: “The issue that always concerned Prince Harry, that he would be overshadowed by his brother’s children, is coming true.”
Eton College is said to be a running contender for George’s next school, as well as Marlborough College in Wiltshire.
Princess Catherine attended Marlborough College, with the mother-of-three said to have that as a potential contender for her eldest son.
Due to the fractured relationship between Harry and William, the 41-year-old’s once-close bond with his niece and nephews appears to have suffered. At the time that he stepped away from royal duties, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis were aged just six, four and one.
Speaking recently to the Daily Express, royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams said that, despite being so young, the children will likely be “aware” of their aunt and uncle.
Mr Fitzwilliams said: “Obviously, George, Charlotte and Louis were 6, 4 and 1 when Harry and Meghan stepped down as senior working royals in early 2020.
“They were very young. They would subsequently undoubtedly be aware of Harry and are likely to know or have read that there are serious problems when it comes to their uncle, not to mention Aunt Meghan!!”
