Trabzonspor president Ertugrul Dogan has claimed the Turkish club have already met Andre Onana’s financial demands, amid mounting speculation surrounding his future at Manchester United. The Cameroon international spent last season on loan with the Turkish Super Lig outfit, playing a key role in helping them secure Europa League qualification.
Although United are yet to reach an agreement on a transfer fee with the Turkish club, Dogan insists there will be no difficulties in thrashing out personal terms with the goalkeeper. Onana lifted the Turkish Cup during his time with Trabzonspor and has become a firm favourite with supporters.
Speaking to Ajansspor, Dogan said: “I think Andre Onana will stay with the team. We’ve met his financial demands.
“The fans like him too. He’s a decent bloke. I don’t think we’ll have any problems. I don’t think he’ll find the same level of interest in him anywhere else. So I think he’ll stay with the team.”
United are required to sell Onana for approximately £20million in order to avoid falling foul of the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR). Speaking last week, Dogan expressed his desire to reach an agreement ‘in the coming days’ and told HT Spor: “As we said, we’re trying to act quickly. We’re adding these players to our squad one by one.
“Transfers will continue in the coming days. We were thinking of five to six transfers, but it looks like we’ll go to a higher number.”
When pressed specifically about Onana, he said: “We speak with Andre Onana almost every day. He loves it here.
“We want him to stay, but of course everyone has their own life and plans. We have to respect that.
“I don’t think we’ll have any problems in the coming days. But if we do, the management will do what’s necessary. We’ll find another goalkeeper of the same quality.”
