The North-west and South-east of England are expected to be among the hardest-hit regions, with 12 branches in each area earmarked for closure. London will lose a further 10 branches.
The banking group said customers would still be able to access services through other brands within its network, including Lloyds Bank, Halifax and Bank of Scotland branches.
According to the company, more than three-quarters of the branches scheduled to close are located within one mile of another Lloyds Banking Group site, while 95% have an alternative branch within five miles.
A Lloyds Banking Group spokesman defended the closures, saying: “With access to one of the biggest branch networks in the UK, alongside local banking options like our Community Bankers, the Post Office, PayPoint, plus our leading apps and 24/7 messaging service, we offer our customers more choice and convenience than ever before.”
