British Transport Police have released images of two men they want to identify after a woman was sexually assaulted on board an Elizabeth Line train. Detectives said the incident happened shortly before 11pm on Saturday, June 6, after a group of buskers boarded an eastbound service at Whitechapel station.
During the journey, two men from the group allegedly sexually assaulted a woman before leaving the train at the next stop, Stratford station. Officers are now appealing to the public for help in identifying two men captured in images released as part of the investigation. BTP said detectives believe the pair may have information that could assist their enquiries into the incident.
A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: “Do you recognise these men? Detectives investigating a sexual assault on board an Elizabeth Line train are releasing images of two men they would like to speak to.
“At just before 11pm on Saturday, June 6, a group of buskers boarded an eastbound service at Whitechapel station.
“During the journey, two men from the group sexually assaulted a woman.
“They then got off the train at the next stop – Stratford station.
“Detectives believe the men in the images may have information that will assist their ongoing investigation.”
Anyone who recognises the men, or who witnessed the incident, is urged to contact British Transport Police by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 860 of June 6.
Information can also be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
The investigation remains ongoing.
