Netflix just confirmed that one of its biggest films in 2026 will return. War Machine came out in March this year and dominated the top spot on the streamer’s movie charts for weeks. The movie has become one of Netflix’s top 10 films of all time, with a whopping 139,900,000 views.
Audiences have previously hailed the movie on Rotten Tomatoes, as one person wrote in their glowing review: “Pure action chaos in the best way. The pacing barely slows down, the machine combat is intense, and Alan Ritchson absolutely fits this kind of role perfectly.”
While a five-star review read: “Combine Predator and War of the Worlds, and you will get this amazing movie! The story was incredibly gripping and intense, and the war machine itself was very threatening and looked awesome.”

A third commented: “Fantastic action movie with enough suspense, some cheese ball options, but overall really liked it!”
A fourth person proclaimed, “An incredible action movie and a perfect flick for Alan Ritchson’s charisma. Don’t go looking for any character depth here. It is straight adrenaline … like Predator on steroids.”
Someone else posted on IMDb: “Outstanding. Just Wow Wow Wow…. War Machine Love it It’s Amazing What’s A Concept What A Story What A Action Scenes What A VFX It’s Truly Master Peace. Im Looking Forward Part 2 I’m Very Much Excited To Next Part…. Director Is A Genius He Made One Off The Best War Machine Movie Loved It…. Must Watch [sic].”
War Machine follows a group of recruits in the final stages of the US Army Ranger Selection; however, after their training exercise goes awry, they find themselves fighting for their lives.
Netflix said that the military sci-fi series will see the return of lead star Alan Ritchson and director Patrick Hughes.

Filmmaker Hughes, who is also behind The Hitman’s Bodyguard and The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard, will be co-writing the script with James Beaufort.
According to a report from Variety, it’s not yet clear what the plot will be for the War Machine sequel, but the first film ended on an ambiguous note.
War Machine ended with the alien machine robot being defeated after 81 led it into a trap in a quarry.
But a news report suggests that there’s an alien invasion on the horizon after countless pods – similar to the one containing the murderous robot that 81 battled – have been found across the planet.
This means there are many more of these alien robots to fight.
In addition, the news report suggested that many thousands more pods were heading to Earth, and that a global defence response was required.
