A man has been charged with attempted murder after a car ploughed into several pedestrians outside a bustling shopping centre in West London.
Timir Ahmed Mohamed, 34, allegedly fled the scene on Ealing Broadway at approximately 2.30pm on Saturday, leaving five people hurt, with three requiring hospital treatment.
Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) London carried out preliminary enquiries, however officers confirmed the incident is not being investigated as an act of terrorism.
On Sunday evening, the Metropolitan Police announced that Somalia-born Mohamed, of Grange Park, Ealing, has been charged with five counts of attempted murder, along with dangerous driving, failing to stop, failing to provide a specimen of breath for analysis and criminal damage.
He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Willesden Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
None of the injuries were deemed life-threatening or life-changing, and the two individuals who were not hospitalised received treatment at the scene.
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We sent a number of resources including ambulance crews, paramedics in fast response cars, a volunteer emergency responder crew and an incident response officer to the scene. We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance.
“We treated three patients at the scene and took one of them to a major trauma centre by road as a priority. The other two patients were taken to a local hospital.”
