Inside Prince Harry’s ‘desperate’ bid to resolve UK security chaos | Royal | News

Doubt was, however, present last week after it was revealed that the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (RAVEC) had “paused” the independent Risk Management Board (RMB) without explanation. The Duke of Sussex’s office is said to have been informed previously that this would have been solved back in March.

A spokesperson for Harry has said that he “continues to explore every available option to enable the visit to proceed safely and to give his children the opportunity to enjoy the UK”.

Speaking about the security issue, with the situation described as “chaotic”, one royal commentator has said that the Sussexes only have themselves to blame.

Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams told GB News: “On the one hand, it is very curious indeed that the assessment by Ravec, which was promised last December after he lobbied the Home Secretary, has not taken place.

“This has always been a red line for him after the tragic death of his mother.”

He added: “The fault here is that the Sussexes have planned this so publicly – the rift is deep.”

The King has reportedly offered a royal residence to Harry and Meghan for their upcoming visit, an offer that the couple have yet to respond to. It is understood that the security would be included in the stay.

The family have not visited the UK together since June 2022, with the visit taking place over Lilibet’s first birthday. Meghan has also not travelled to the UK since September 2022.
