Aldi has revealed the quietest times to shop at its store this summer to help families avoid the busiest periods. The German supermarket chain, which has over 1,080 stores branches across the UK, said according to in-store data, its quietest shopping times during the summer holidays are typically before 10am and after 8pm on weekdays.
There are also some quieter periods later on Saturday evenings for weekend shoppers, it added. Julie Ashfield, Chief Commercial Officer at Aldi UK, said: “We know the school holidays can be a busy and expensive time for families, so we want to make shopping as simple and affordable as possible.
“By visiting during quieter periods and making use of Aldi’s everyday value, shoppers can save both time and money this summer.”
Aldi also noted that it has invested “more than £200 million in price cuts so far this year, helping customers save across everything from fresh and frozen food to household essentials and personal care products”.
Aldi is the UK’s fourth biggest supermarket, and has plans to further expand its footprint in the UK. It previously confirmed plans to open 16 new stores across the UK in the coming months.
The retailer will open new supermarkets across England and Wales, and one in the Isle of Wight.
The store launches are part of its long-term ambition to operate 1,500 stores in the UK.
Aldi was among a number of supermarket retailers that increase pay for its shop staff earlier this year. In April, store assistants working at Aldi’s UK branches saw their pay increase (to £13.50 per hour nationally, with those working inside in the M25 getting £14.88).
These pay rates rise to £14.47 and £15.20 respectively based on length of service.
Aldi said at the time that the change would benefit 28,000 hourly-paid store workers.
