Manchester United are closing in on the arrivals of goalkeeper Karl Darlow and midfielder Andrey Santos, while Ederson is undergoing a medical ahead of completing his own move from Atalanta. Darlow is set to join on a free transfer after departing Leeds United upon the expiry of his contract last month. He will provide cover for Senne Lammens, with three goalkeepers having left Old Trafford this summer.
Darlow had been offered renewed terms at Elland Road after making 22 league appearances for the Yorkshire club last season. However, he is now expected to make the journey across the Pennines to join up with the Red Devils instead. Andre Onana has already returned to Trabzonspor on loan, while Altay Bayindir is widely anticipated to seal a permanent move back to Turkey.
Radek Vitek will also depart in search of regular first-team football, and United could stand to benefit financially from the 22-year-old following his impressive loan spell at Bristol City.
A £50million deal was agreed with Chelsea earlier this week for Santos, 22, who has since been undergoing his medical assessments.
The Brazilian midfielder is poised to complete his switch to the club on a five-year deal in the coming days.
While Darlow and Santos could finalise their moves as early as Friday, there is also news concerning Ederson, with United choosing to conduct a more comprehensive medical assessment of the midfielder.
Initial examinations took place during the World Cup, but following Brazil’s exit from the tournament, the 27-year-old has travelled to Manchester to complete his transfer.
Despite suggestions that the deal might collapse, it remains very much on track as he prepares to undergo the final phase of his medical.
United have already reached a £35million agreement with Atalanta to bring Ederson to Old Trafford, with a further £3.8million in add-ons.
Personal terms on a four-year deal with a one-year extension option have also been agreed.
United’s squad returned to Carrington to commence their pre-season training on Thursday.
The Red Devils face Wrexham in their opening friendly on Saturday, July 18th in Helsinki, Finland.
