Aldi has issued a huge prediction concerning beer sales ahead of England’s clash against Norway in the quarter-final of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The German supermarket Aldi, which has 1,080 stores across the UK, is forecasting its biggest beer sales day of the year tomorrow (Saturday, July 12) as fans gather to watch the late-night kick off.

According to the chain across the week, “shoppers are predicted to snap up over 8.2 million beers, 2.1 million pizzas and 5.7 million packs of crisps”. “Almost 2 million beers, 1 million packs of crisps and 430,000 pizzas are expected to fly off shelves on Saturday alone,” it added.

England’s heroics in the World Cup have coincided with sweltering temperatures across the UK, and with the heatwave continuing, Aldi is aldo predicting a “huge surge in ice cream sales with 4.5 million ice creams expected to fly off shelves this week”.

Julie Ashfield, Chief Commercial Officer at Aldi UK, said: “Nothing brings people together quite like an England match, and we’re expecting shoppers to be stocking up on all the essentials ahead of kick-off.

“From beers and pizzas to crisps, we’ve got everything football fans need for a winning watch party, all at Aldi’s unbeatable value.”

England made it through to the last eight with a dramatic win over Mexico in Mexico City on Monday morning.

England survived a scare after right back Jarell Quansah was sent off in the 54th minute.

But Thomas Tuchel’s men mangaged to progress with a 3-2 win courtesy of a brace from Jude Bellingham, Harry Kane penalty, and tireless defending to resist a late seige from Mexico.

Norway and their free-scoring talisman Erling Haaland now stand between England and the semi-final.

The match will take place at the Miami Stadium in Florida, with kickoff set for 10pm UK time. It will be shown live on ITV.
