Cleaning shower screens can be extremely difficult, as it seems like glass cleaner won’t ever make them as perfect as they could be. It just seems to mark the glass with ugly streaks, and looks gross, leading to frustration because it almost seems worse than it did before.

However, one woman who is passionate about cleaning revealed a hack you can use if your “mum never taught you” and many people’s mums haven’t shared this with them.

Rather than relying on glass cleaner, TikTok user @mylittlehome.x shared her “shower screen cleaning hack” to get it looking gleaming every single time, and it really will look as good as new.

She explained her mum also didn’t teach her to clean, and it was only when she got married she realised she didn’t know how to “cook or clean” so she needed to quickly teach herself.

“If the shower screen is dirty, then the rest of the bathroom ends up looking dirty,” she pointed out, so first you need to get yourself a Dishmatic.

For those not in the know, a Dishmatic is a popular, refillable washing-up tool. It features a hollow handle that you fill with dish soap, which automatically dispenses through an interchangeable sponge or scourer head as you scrub your crockery, pots, and pans.

But this cleaner reckons you can use one of these in the bathroom to get your shower screen clean, with half parts Fairy Liquid and half parts vinegar.

First, you should “put the Dishmatic under the tap to get it a bit wet,” and then “scrub the living daylights out of your shower screen”.

She recommended you do this every day, or every other day, because you won’t have a “big build-up of water marks,” meaning the job is a whole lot easier.

When you’ve scrubbed the Dishmatic all over the shower screen, you need to take a squeegee and do straight down motions to get it gleaming.

At the end, she used a shower shine to make it look extra nice, suggesting you do this clean when you’ve just had a shower to “kill two birds with one stone,” which definitely makes sense. “When you spray it on the shower side, you’re supposed to not rub it in,” she explained.

On the other side, she wiped it down with a microfibre cloth, but said it would save you a few minutes not to do it on the shower side. “If you have serious water marks, this is going to be amazing,” she gushed.

In the comments, someone wrote: “Yes! Omg I spent so much money and storage on multiple different cleaning products only to realise Fairy is the best for the kitchen and bathroom.”

“And make sure to get the non-scratch Dishmatic sponge heads!” one woman pointed out.

“My mum did teach me but I just can’t retain the information,” a TikTok user joked.
