The episode will see the Duchess focusing on seasonal produce and personal stories. But some fans were not impressed with the news and took to social media to criticise the Duchess, before the episode featuring her even aired. One user wrote on X: “This is going to be one of the worst appearances she’s ever done.”
Another one said: “Thanks for the reminder, I’ll make sure I miss the episode.”
Meanwhile, a third one added: “Hard pass.”
A fourth one commented: “I’m sure it’s going to be as awful as we all think it will be.”
A fifth one blasted: “I enjoy Masterchef, but I will NOT be watching that episode!”
In the episode, the Duchess will ask the contestants to make a dish featuring one seasonal ingredient and a personal story behind it.
The ingredients available will include carrots, Jerusalem artichokes, Brussels sprouts, celeriac, Australian honey, macadamia nuts, quince, lemons and apples, mandarins and strawberries.
Meghan will appear alongside MasterChef Australia judges Poh Ling Yeow, Sofia Levin and Jean-Christophe Novelli.
The Duchess said about her appearance, as per Mediaweek: “What attracted me to the MasterChef Australia kitchen? Two things: my love of food and my love of Australia. It was an easy yes.”
She added: “These [the ingredients available] are all things that, for me, feel really nostalgic.”
The broadcaster said in a post on Instagram announcing Meghan’s appearance: “The countdown is on! Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, joins the #MasterChefAU kitchen as a guest judge, bringing her love of food, entertaining and seasonal produce to one of the competition’s most memorable challenges. Tune in on Sunday, July 26 at 7pm on @channel10au.”
