Millions of Britons are currently basking in the third heatwave of the year, but new weather maps have revealed when this could all come to an end and temperatures drop. The maps from WXCHARTS, which uses MetDesk data, show the cold weather reappearing on Sunday (July 19) – in just two days’ time.
According to the charts, temperatures could plunge from the high 20sC the country has currently been enjoying to chilly lows of 5C at 6am – a whopping 13C lower than the July average. The coldest parts of the country will be in Scotland, though Cumbria and Durham will also be under 10C. Elsewhere, much of England can expect temperatures above 10C, with highs of 16C in the South West.
Separately, the Met Office warns of rainfall in the north of the country, though most places will remain dry and sunny.
Its forecast for Sunday to Tuesday reads: “Many remaining fine and dry with sunny spells, though patchy rain possible in the north where cloud thickens. Temperatures near the seasonal norm on Sunday, then trending above next week.”
The forecaster said: “Northern Scotland may see some thicker cloud with patchy drizzle at times, while a few isolated showers could develop elsewhere, particularly around northwest England, Wales and southwest England.
“Even so, any rainfall is expected to be light and localised, with most places remaining dry.”
