Donald Trump shares details of first call with Andy Burnham | World | News

Trump’s post continued: “The Prime Minister has got a big job ahead of him, but he will be able to do it and, of course, the U.S.A. will be there to help!”

Trump said that the two leaders discussed four pertinent issues, among other topics: North Sea oil, trade, the military alliance and the demining of the Strait of Hormuz.

“The call was interesting, and went very well. I wished Prime Minister Burnham, GOOD LUCK AND GODSPEED!” Trump said.

Burnham became Prime Minister earlier on Monday and has promised the biggest political and economic change in 40 years.

Speaking outside No10, the Burnham promised to announce measures to tackle the cost of living in the coming days.

“I know people at home are fed up with politics. I hear you, and I want to be honest with you. We have not been good enough, and we need to be better. We will be,” he said.

“We will make this moment a circuit-breaker for Britain, bringing forward the biggest changes in the last 40 years. A new political model and a new economic model.”

Burnham has already given several of predecessor Sir Keir Starmer‘s cabinet the boot and announced his new ministers, including John Healey as Chancellor of the Exchequer, Ed Miliband as Foreign Secretary and Yvette Cooper as Health Secretary.
