The Met Office’s weather maps are forecasting rain to hit parts of the UK on Wednesday as some areas brace for more unsettled conditions. The forecaster said it will stay “cloudy and cool in the far north on Tuesday with light showers possible. Dry and sunny elsewhere with some very warm sunshine”.
While rain will fall as scattered showers on Tuesday and Wednesday, and is largely confined to northern Scotland on Thursday and Friday, forecasters believe this weekend could be a washout for many.
In other areas of the country, temperatures are likely to stay warm. The south of England and Wales is set to have the best of the weather this week, while in London, high temperatures range from 25C to 28C for the rest of the week, with sun and cloud forecast.
As the unsettled weather continues, Cardiff is set to record highs between 25C and 27C until Saturday, when sun gives way to cloud and the mercury falls to 22C, with drizzle forecast on Sunday. The Met Office forecast for the rest of July also said: “This period looks like being largely changeable, with many parts likely to see some rain at times.
“Rain will spread southeast across most if not all parts of the UK through this weekend, with some showers following. Further bands of rain look likely to spread southeast next week, interspersed with sunny spells and some showers.”
