Boxing fans will know exactly who Mariusz Wach is. At his best, ‘the Viking’ dealt Wladimir Klitschko a huge scare by sending him reeling with a massive right hand in their IBF, IBO, WBO and WBA heavyweight title clash.
At the time, he had a 27-0 record, but Klitschko narrowly edged him via an unanimous decision after an impressive display from the Pole. However, that was 14 years ago and father time has not been kind to Wach.
He has lost three of his last four fights, with one of those being a terrifying second round knockout at the hands of British fighter Moses Itauma, who terrified Wach with his terrifying combinations and sledgehammer like right-hand.
Wach’s record now stands at 39 (20 KOs) and 13 defeats, five by knockout. His last fight was a unanimous decision loss to Viktor Vykhryst in Budapest in March.
