Some residents in Jersey may be able to apply for a cash boost of more than £500 to help with cost-of-living pressures. Authorities in the self-governing British Crown Dependency, located off the coast of Normandy, previously confirmed that the Community Costs Bonus (CCB) will continue to be paid at an earlier date than normal as households continue to feel the pinch.
The support, which is exclusively for eligible residents, had previously been paid in the autumn, but has been pushed forward to July for the past couple of years to support families facing cost-of-living pressures “as soon as possible”, The Government of Jersey previously said.
Authorities on the islands previously confirmed that the earlier opening date for the scheme will remain in place for this year, with eligible households handed a £516.50 cash boost, BBC News reports.
The eligibility rules are the same as in 2025. This includes:
- That a minimum of one adult in the household had lived in Jersey for at least five years
- That the household had a combined tax liability less than £2,735 in 2025
- No member of the household within the previous 7 days of application had an open Income Support Claim.
Residents are told not to apply until they’ve received their latest tax liability.
Last year, authorities on the islands said customers “who were eligible for an automatic payment and have received their 2024 tax assessment will have received their payment by 24 July”.
New applicants were able to start applying for this year’s scheme from July 14, 2026, as per the outlet. The current scheme will run until the end of June 2027.
Authorities in Jersey have yet to confirm whether the scheme will return next year.
An estimated £2.466million was allocated to support the scheme from existing budgets, the island’s government said. Claimants confirmed to have met eligibility requirements will be transferred the cash automatically.
Jersey also has an equivalent of the Winter Fuel Payment for older Britons to support with heating costs.
