Meghan Markle has revealed what she first thought of Princess Catherine when they met. The sisters-in-law have not been spotted together in years after their husbands, brothers Prince Harry and Prince William, fell out. The two couples had been dubbed the “Fab Four”.
But soon after fans had started to take to the group, Harry and Meghan would quit royal life and go on to make a series of public attacks on his family. Prince Harry and Prince William are reportedly not in contact with each other anymore, tearing apart the bond of the sisters-in-law too. Speaking about her first meeting with Princess Catherine, she says some parts of their encounter were “jarring”.
In the second episode of the Harry & Meghan docuseries, Meghan says: “I met her [Kate] for the first time, I think we went for dinner.
“I remember I was in ripped jeans and barefoot. I was a hugger, I’ve always been a hugger, I didn’t realise that that was jarring for a lot of Brits.”
She said: “I started to understand that the formality on the outside carried through on the inside, that there is a forward-facing way of being, and then you close the door, [sighs], I can relax now.”
Omid Scobie, in his book wrote that Princess Catherine, who apparently “wasn’t a fan” of Meghan, “can be cold if she doesn’t like someone.”
Reports say a source told the journalist, “She spent more time talking about Meghan than talking to her.”
When the engagement between Prince Harry and Meghan was announced, Meghan had paid tribute to Catherine for welcoming her into the family.
Meghan said: “Catherine has been absolutely amazing, as has William as well, you know, fantastic support.”
Meghan and Princess Catherine have reportedly had multiple disagreements.
In his book, Prince Harry referenced a time when Meghan asked to borrow a lip-gloss from Catherine ahead of their appearance at the first Royal Foundation forum summit in 2018.
He writes that Princess Catherine was surprised, but rummaged around in her bag before offering it to Meghan.
Harry goes on to claim that Meghan applied some of the gloss to her finger, and rubbed it across her lips, before Catherine made a “disgusted” face.
Meghan and Princess Catherine have not been seen together in years.
