While Brits up and down the country enjoy this week’s warm weather, new maps have revealed when this could all come to an end, and temperatures plunge. New maps from WXCHARTS, which uses MetDek data, show lows of 3C hitting parts of Scotland in mere hours.
On Friday (July 31) temperatures will plunge from the mid-20sC the country has currently been enjoying, with highs of 14C along England’s east coast. A total of five counties will drop below 5C by 6am tomorrow, all of which are in Scotland.
England is due to be slightly milder, with many areas in the East, South East, and South West entering the double digits.
Separately, the Met Office forecast for Friday reads: “Mostly dry in the south and southeast on Friday with some warm spells of sunshine. Cooler, with a breeze towards the north and northwest, and a scattering of showers.”
The weather agency added that temperatures are expected to be much closer to average across most of the UK, and even slightly below average for northern Scotland.
Deputy chief forecaster Mark Sidaway said: “The forecast is showing potential for more rain than much of the UK has experienced over the last few weeks.
“However, it looks as though amounts of rain for many will be fairly modest, and won’t balance out the shortfall that we have recorded this summer. It’s still possible that some areas of the south will miss out and see little or no rainfall.”
