Adam Peaty’s family have been defended as “a normal hard-working bunch” in the bitter row surrounding the decision to snub his mother from his own wedding. It was recently reported that his fiancee Holly, the daughter of celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, had banned Caroline, 59, from her hen party last weekend. She is also said to have been snubbed from their wedding, which is set to take place next month.
Now, according to The Mirror, insiders close to Team Adam claim the group are just a “normal, ordinary” family who haven’t the influence or media access the Ramsay clan has. One source is quoted as saying: “It all seems rather unedifying for Team Ramsay to come out and throw around accusations about a normal, ordinary family like the Peatys. They [Ramsays] are able to look after themselves – they get the media, the fame game and have the staff in place to deal with these kinds of public feuds.
“The Peatys don’t. They are a normal hard-working bunch who have suddenly found themselves up against one of Britain’s richest and most influential families.
“It is all very sad, and there are two sides to every story, but you have to wonder if it’s a straight up-and-down case of Holly and Adam ditching his family.”
Caroline, a former nursery manager from Staffordshire, was initially thought to have been invited to the wedding. However, it is believed a disagreement arose when Caroline bought a dress for the big day, which Holly and Adam reportedly disapproved of.
They allegedly offered to purchase another outfit for her, one they would select. A trip to Bath was planned to find the new dress, but this was thwarted due to train cancellations following the recent knife attack in Cambridgeshire.
Caroline was subsequently not invited to the hen do, an extravagant affair in Oxfordshire, and instead looked after her grandchild from Adam’s previous relationship at home.
This, coupled with the wedding snub, seems to have sparked anger among those close to the mother-of-four.
Adam’s aunt, Louise Williams, recently lashed out at her in-laws on social media, stating: “The difference between me and a lot of people is that I’m not afraid to be disliked. I don’t give a f*** who you are supposed to be, think you are or who are you are connected to.”
As controversy swirls around the upcoming wedding, Peaty appears to have a steadfast ally in Holly’s father Gordon.
Back in August, the celebrity chef declared that he and his wife Tana “couldn’t ask for anyone better” as their son-in-law. He also revealed details of how Peaty informed them about his proposal plans for Holly.
“He’s a very nice guy,” said Gordon. “He’s so down to earth and so focused and disciplined.
“He sat us down in Cornwall and he said: ‘Holly is just the perfect woman. I’d like to get your blessing, from you and Tana, for her hand in marriage’.
“It was that sort of amazing moment. Everything went quiet. As a future son-in-law, we couldn’t ask for anyone better. He’s so grounded. Those two get on so well. It’s a blessing.”
